Chennai sources stated that all roads these days seem to lead to Captain’s camp. No sooner did Vijayakanth, the DMDK chief, returned from medical treatment in the U.S., a queue of political heavyweights has been in place before his gates at Saligramam, with BJP’s Union Minister Piyush Goyal being among the first to present himself with flowers and the alliance petition.

Earlier on Saturday, it was the turn of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to pay a ‘courtesy call’ on Captain and enquire about his well-being. Meanwhile the CM, who is also the joint coordinator of the ruling party, took along senior ministers Sellur K Raju, Dindigul Srinivasan, C Vijayabaskar and Kadambur Raju with him to share warmth with the DMDK chief and pose for pictures.

Moreover, after much haggling over seats and parallel negotiations with the rival DMK for alliance, the DMDK finally agreed last Sunday to settle down for four seats in the AIADMK-BJP camp as part of the UPA in Tamilnadu. Accordingly the party said an AIADMK delegation led by Tamilnadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami Saturday called on DMDK founder Vijayakanth at his residence here. Perhaps AIADMK has struck a poll pact with the Vijayakanth led party for the April 18 Lok Sabha polls in Tamilnadu, and DMDK has been allotted four seats as part of the seat-sharing agreement.
