Reportedly the Supreme Court on Tuesday said the CBI custody of former finance minister P chidambaram will continue till September 5 in the INX Media corruption case while adding that the leader will not be sent to Tihar Jail as of now. Meanwhile during the hearing of the interim bail plea, the Supreme Court said chidambaram will remain in police custody till September 5 and the application against arrest warrant will now be heard on September 5.

Furthermore the Supreme Court asked chidambaram's counsel not to press for the interim bail plea, which they had filed before the trial court on Monday and is scheduled to be heard during the day, till September 5. Reportedly a bench of justices R Banumathi and A S Bopanna said it will hear chidambaram's plea on September 5 in which he has challenged the non-bailable warrant issued against him as well as the subsequent trial court's orders remanding him in the CBI custody.



Meanwhile while posting the matter for hearing on Thursday, the bench said: "We are conscious that we should not usurp the jurisdiction of the concerned trial court". Previously during the hearing on chidambaram's petition challenging police custody, the CBI told the SC that further custodial interrogation of the former Union finance minister was not required.
