All over Telangana Ganesh idols were immersed under tight security and the largest and grandest procession was held in Hyderabad. More than 50,000 idols mostly in Hyderabad and its outskirts were immersed in water bodies marking the end of a 10 day festival that is held every year all over the country.


Director General of Police M. Mahendra Reddy said that 35000 policemen were deployed in Hyderabad, Rachakonda, Cyberadbad which covered the state capital and the outskirts. The police chief said that one lakh idols were installed and half of them were immersed on Thursday while remaining will be immersed till Friday afternoon.


The largest immersion procession was held in Hyderabad as thousands of idols from various parts of the city were brought to Hussain Sagar Lake located in the center of the city.


Tens of thousands of people participated in the Shobha yatra from Balapur on the fringes of the city to Hussain Sagar Lake. As the Ganesh idols in different sizes and avataras were being brought to the lake on trucks, private cars and other vehicles, people shouted slogans and expressed their faith and merriment.
