Telangana state budget for financial year 2019-20 was presented by chief minister Kalvakuntla. Chandra shekhar rao in state legislative assembly on 09 September 2019. Annual budget for state of Telangana was presented by chief minister kcr in state legislative assembly. The budget had been slashed by almost 20%, owing to economic slowdown in country.


He presented a budget of 1,46,492.30 (cr). He expressed his gratitude that state has become financially healthy in just five years after bifurcation. He also stated that state will achieve a revenue surplus of rs 2044 crore. Sectors which gained a surplus allocation compared to last year were Energy, social welfare and nutrition, agriculture and allied activities with 61%, 31% and 30% respectively. While, water supply, sanitation, urban housing and development, irrigation and flood control saw a sharp decline in budget allocation by  69% and 64% respectively. 

The major gaining sectors from budget were Crop loan waivers for farmers of Telangana was allocated rs 6000 crore.
An amount of 12000 crores were given to Rythu bandhu scheme, The assistance for farmers under this scheme has been increased by 8000 to 10000 per acre per annum.


Asara pension scheme was been doubled this year, as the eligibility age for this social service scheme has been revised from 65 years to 57. Interestingly this minorities welfare budget was increased substantially, thus making this allocation to minorities as highest in the country. The opposition has heavily criticized the state budget determing it as misleading and against poor people.
