The former chief minister chandrababu Naidu and many other leaders including Chandrababu’s son have been put under house arrest on Wednesday to stop them from staging a protest against the YSR congress government.

The police also imposed a curfew in Guntur district to prevent the opposition from staging a protest. According to Naidu around 565 incidents of violence against TDP workers in Andhra Pradesh were reported and 10 party workers were actually killed in this violence.

The condition of Andhra Pradesh is becoming like West Bengal where the ruling YSR congress and the opposition party Telagu Desam are resorting to extreme means against each other. Things are becoming acrimonious between the two parties and they are resorting to ugly means.

In fact the opposition is resorting to extreme means to put down the ruling YS JaganMohan Reddy government. They are accusing the government of violence and intimidation against its party workers. The government is thus forced to take actions like putting the opposition party leaders under house arrest. This kind of politics does not bode well for democracy and the opposition should understand that such behavior will only make them more unpopular in the state.
