Telangana assembly unanimously passed a resolution for total ban on uranium mining in Nallamalla forest reserve, this resolution was to request central government not give green signal for extract uranium.

Telangana state assembly passed a resolution to request central govt. not to go ahead with proposal of exploiting the Nallamalla forest, known for its rich flora and fauna. The chief minister and opposition leader along with other members of assembly, unanimously passed the resolution put forward by IT minister KT Rama Rao.

kcr urged the central government that uranium mining and exploitation of Amrabad forest area poses grave risk to water bodies like krishna and srisailam which are vital source of drinking water to capital city hyderabad, beside this, they are many animal species like Tiger, cheetah, leopards, and spotted deers in the forest region.

ktr also reiterate that that this decision of uranium mining in Amrabad forest area is against the welfare of general public. He demanded the idea of mining to be dropped at the earliest. Experts suggest it will adversely affects biodiversity of forest region, along with serious threat of water contamination across major dams and rivers in the state.
