Reportedly after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant has become the second IT Company to have 2 lakh employees in india. Meanwhile TCS is a based in india and Cognizant is a US based firm with most of its operations taking place in Bengaluru. Accordingly Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries informed the firm that they have over 2,00,000 lakh employees in india and that the Indian arm of the tech major is a "jewel" that is a "hub of our global delivery, solutioning and innovation".
Furthermore this comes amid reports that Cognizant is likely to lay off a number of employees to cut costs. Meanwhile the company had fired a bunch of mid-level employees in May while the company is looking at more ways to reduce its expenses.
Moreover in the note on Tuesday, Humphries said, "We are fortunate to have many talented and engaged colleagues in india, more than 200,000 in all, who excel at serving our clients. The bright future of Cognizant india will see us building the industry's most admired delivery engine, blending efficiency with innovation." Perhaps TCS, on the other hand, is india's biggest IT employer with a total headcount of over 4 lakh employees and Cognizant has hired 66,000 people in the past 5 years.
