As monsoon season this year nearing to end, the reservoirs of the country is 85 percent full mainly attributing to good rainfall this year in most parts of india.


Due to bumper monsoon season this year, dams across the country is brimming with water, overall 113 major dams and reservoirs in-country is 85 full, the combined storage of water is reading now at 144.179 billion cubic meters, which 115 percent more compared to same day of last year, moreover 88 of them have normal levels of the last ten years.


Good monsoon and heavy downpour helped reservoirs to fill up, which otherwise were parched in starting of the season in June. As on September 22, central india and south peninsulae are 23% and 13% excess in rainfall, while northwest and northeast are a deficit by 18% and 8% respectively. The overall country has witnessed 5% excess rainfall till date.


Reservoirs storage levels in north india stand at 91%, central india 86%, western india 89% and south india at 82%. Most of the major reservoirs in the country which feed the needs of agricultural and drinking are in comfort levels, which eases the problem of water crises to some extent.
