Heavy rains in tune of 91 mm in kannepally village of Mancherial district has damaged crops,average rainfall in the district was 29 mm on Tuesday.


Several places in Mancherial and Asifabad received heavy to moderate rainfall on Tuesday,incessant rains flooded streams and overflowed the irrigation tanks, standing crops like cotton,maize, and red gram was damaged severely, few dilapidated houses caved in the district.


Kannepally village in the district recorded highest rainfall of 91 mm. The district received 21 percent excess rainfall this season, normally it gets 997 mm of rainfall, but thus year it received a whopping 1211 mm rainfall from June 1 to September 24. Due to heavy downpour, mud walled house caved in yellur village of penchikalpet mandal of the district.


Farmers demanded the government authorities to check the extensive crop damage in the district.Many other district of state has witnessed moderate to heavy rains from Tuesday morning to Wednesday night. Although there wasn’t any casualties reported from anywhere in the state, but according to sources extensive crop damage due to rains is inevitable.
