hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday told a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in hyderabad that the state was duped by Helmuth Schuster, director of volkswagen company, in 2005 in the name of setting up volkswagen car factory at visakhapatnam. The CBI that probed the matter cited Botsa, then industries minister, as its witness.

The factory never came to the state. The court earlier summoned the minister to depose the sequence of events that led to the scam perpetrated in the name of the volkswagen car factory.

The factory never came to the state. Even the volkswagen head office at germany and its top management later realized that Schuster and the company's india representative ashok Jain duped the state of AP.

Schuster and co made the state to deposit an amount of Rs 11 crore (2 million Euros) in VW account. Everybody thought that VW stands for volkswagen which was uncovered when the CBI probe later unearthed the fact that the accused in the case floated a separate company with a similar name, Vasishta Wahan (VW) with a greedy intent to swallow this money.
