AMARAVATI: Setting all the apprehensions on reverse tendering to rest, Andhra Pradesh state chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy government come out victorious as it received a bid for Polavaram main dam and hydel project at 12.6 % less than the previous cost in the reverse tendering process. This is going to save a large amount of Rs.628 crore to the exchequer.

The Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) filed the bid by offering a huge discount as the firm is keen to take up the prestigious works of the Polavaram project. Meil is credited with the completion of the prestigious Kaleswaram project in Telangana and Pattiseema lift irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh in record time.

This is seen as a major and huge victory for chief minister YS jagan, who has been firm on going for reverse tendering in all engineering works citing large-scale and huge irregularities during the previous TDP regime in awarding the multiple contracts.

He took up the issue of reverse tendering to his prestige and promised the Centre to save huge money. The state government has effectively cleared the fear of the Centre by saving a whopping amount of nearly Rs 700 crore in two packages of the Polavaram project.
