hyderabad: Even as Telangana Congress finalized N Padmavati Reddy as their candidate for Huzurnagar Assembly constituency, the BJP Telangana unit has almost finalized the name of Srikala Reddy, a former TDP leader who recently joined BJP. BJP sources said her caste and strong political background was her advantage.
Her father Jitendnar Reddy was an MLA from Kodad, who contested independently, and was an associate of then chief minister of Marri Channa Reddy. She had married dhananjay Singh, a former BSP MP from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. Supported by Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy, the announcement of her candidature might happen in a day or two, after due process followed in BJP for the selection of a candidate.
BJP sources said a list of three probable candidates would be sent to the party high command after which a name would be announced.Apart from Srikala Reddy, Jaipal Reddy, venkat Reddy, Bhagya Reddy, who had contested in the 2018 assembly election, Samala Ram Reddy, Vaddepalli Ramakrishna, former TRS MP Ravindra Naik, and ashok Naik interacted with the core-committee on their candidature. BJP leaders said 12 candidates had evinced interest in the polls. Other candidates would interact with them on Wednesday.
