Telangana Wing of the Telugu Desam Party party surprised everyone by contesting in the by-election of Huzurnagar Assembly constituency. In a meeting with the party's core leaders, Chandrababu Naidu late Saturday decided to field the party candidate in the by-election. Party Senior Leader Chava Kiranmayi is announced as the candidate and TDP (TS) President, L ramana handed her the B-form.

Contesting Huzoornagar is a risky decision because the party did not contest here in 2018 elections. It has left the seat to Congress as a part of seat-sharing. In 2014, it has contested but came fourth after Congress, TRS, and YSR Congress. Contesting the seat now will mean huge risk. The party should perform here decently so that it can send a message to the party cadre at the grass-root level that the party is still alive and kicking.

The bypoll in Huzurnagar is necessitated by the resignation of Congress' Uttam Kumar Reddy from the Assembly following his election to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda constituency in the recent polls. The polling will take place on 21st of this month and the counting will happen on 24th. The results will be out on the same day.
