Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy launched the Rythu Bharosa scheme in the Nellore district earlier today. He made last-minute changes to the scheme by hiking the annual benefit to farmers from the proposed Rs 12000 to Rs 13500 and announcing that the scheme will be implemented for five years and not four years as declared earlier. The scheme also covers the tenant farmers except for those of upper castes.
The scheme will also benefit three lakh tenant farmers belonging to the SC/ST, BC, and minorities. Interestingly, Tenant farmers are left of Telangana's Rythu Bandhu Scheme. Jagan's decision will create an uproar in Telangana just like Andhra’s decision to recognize rtc employees as state government employees have created a headache for the Telangana government.
Telangana rtc employees want the same benefit extended to them. According to a report, In Telangana, the farmers who commit suicide are mostly the tenant farmers. But the allegation is that Rythu Bandhi is benefitting the rich landlords who own the land while living comfortably in Hyderabad. Now, this will become a headache to KCR.
