The sex scandal artist and founder editor of Tehelka ,Tarun Tejpal, has been arrested on charges of raping a junior colleague after a court in Goa rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
Tejpal was arrested from the Goa crime branch office in Dona Paula shortly after 9 pm, where he had been camping for almost five hours. Tejpal will be produced in local court tomorrow be produced in court, where the duration of his remand with the police will be decided.
Judge Anuja Prabhudesai observed in her 25-page order that there was , prima facie evidence in the statement and email in the complaint of victim against Tejpal that he had been not only mentor and father figure who had not only outraged her modesty but had misused his position, betrayed her trust and violated her body.
The judge said Tejpal meet his lawyer briefly once a day during his interrogation.and also get home-cooked food.
