In what can be termed as a stunning decision,
telangana government after a marathon four hours
cabinet Meeting decided that 5100 out of the total 10,400 routes of the state-owned
telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will be privatized.
kcr also set a fresh deadline for the striking employees to get back to work.
"If they don't return to work by
november 5 midnight, we will privatize the remaining 5,000 routes," he said.
kcr also added that the decision to privatize the routes was irrevocable as the state was empowered to privatize the
rtc under the Motor Vehicle Act, 2019. The
chief minister also confirmed that there is no way that the merger of TSRTC with the
government can happen.
The decision came even as the indefinite
strike by over 48,000 TSRTC employees entered the 29th day on Saturday. The State
government feels that the
people of the state are with it in this issue after TRS's sensational
victory in the recent Huzurnagar by-election. It has to be seen how the Striking employees respond to the last warning of the Chief Minister.
