Armed forces fired in the air to disperse the crowd, but they responded by attacking with stones and burned tires in Karbala, south of the capital, Baghdad. There are no casualties reported in the incident, that has followed protests in Baghdad wanting a change in the political system.

The incident came despite the ongoing protests in Baghdad which demands an overhaul of the political system. The people are already fed up with grievances over poor governance, corruption and economic chances. Protesters have also directed their rage at neighbouring iran and the powerful Iraqi Shia militias tied to it.
