A Multi-Modal transport system (MMTS)
train collided with Hundry intercity express yesterday at 10:30 am at kacheguda station leaving 16
people injured. A CCTV footage has been released by
south Central Railway (SCR) showing ghastly incident, as passengers are running to save their lives.
The impact of the collision was such huge that it lifted the boogies off the track, as many as six boogies of MMTS and three of Hundry intercity Express were affected. The express
train slowed down as it was nearing the station, while the MMTS was running on considerable speed on same track.
Initially a technical error in signalling system was blamed, later, the SCR officials ruled out the possibility, a human error was the reason of the collision, in preliminary investigation it is believed to be MMTS loco pilot’s fault.
The loco pilot who was trapped in badly mangled cabin of MMTS
train was rescued after gruelling eight hours of rescue operations. Disaster management team used gas cutters to bring out the loco pilot. The injured passengers have been admitted to
osmania hospital for treatment. A high level inquiry is been ordered into the accident.
