The
supreme court has upheld the disqualification of the 17
karnataka MLAs based on the orders of
assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. But
sc allowed to contest them in the by-election which is slated to take place on
december 5th.
A three-judge bench of justices NV Ramana, Sanjiv Khanna, and
krishna Murari held that the Speaker was not empowered to disqualify the lawmakers. The
court ruled the judgment and said that the Speaker doesn't have the powers to bar MLAs for any term.
Earlier, the speaker disqualifed the MLAs from the
karnataka Legislative
assembly on July 25 and 28 this year under the Tenth Schedule. This verdict has been a huge boost for the BS Yediyurappa Government.

media, "This is a good decision and we welcome the verdict. It's a good one. All the MLA's will face the music. The
bjp itself divided and the
