Reportedly right from january 2018 until May 2019, the year and a half have been not in good terms for NRIs across the globe. Meanwhile as per the data released from an RTI by the Ministry of External Affairs, a hugely upsetting number of 12,223 indian nationals have died in various foreign countries in the past 17 months. Furthermore when calculated the mean value, it appears the demise number to be a mammoth 719 indians per month or 23-24 per day.

Reportedly mumbai based RTI activist Jatin Desai stated that he got a reply from T Ajungla Jamir, director (CPV) and CPIO at the Ministry of External Affairs, after he filed a query with the Ministry of home Affairs in october asking for the details and how about of indian nationals who have died in foreign prisons. Since the query has got transferred to the Ministry of External Affairs, Desai was mentioned the number of indians who lost their lives abroad between january 2018 and May 2019.



Moreover Desai further raised crucial points like indians need to aware of this and also be careful. Perhaps they are looking for deets to know from which states these indians have travelled and for what purpose. He told "The kind of assistance they secured from indian embassies/consulates abroad when they were in distress is crucial as well". Meanwhile urging people to take precautionary steps during foreign travels, Desai also requested various political parties to raise the issue in the winter session of Parliament, keeping in mind the concerning matter.
