TSRTC jac has called off the 52-day old strike. TSRTC jac Chairman, Aswadhama Reddy asked employees to report for work at depots at 6 am tomorrow. The jac has requested all employees to report to work from tomorrow. They have called it a moral victory of the employees and said that the government should see this as a defeat of the employees nor a victory of the government! That may lead to a stand-off between the government and the workers at the depot.
However, the problem is far from over. It has to be seen if the government will allow the workers back to Work. The chief minister is reportedly mulling options on whether to retain employees as they called off strike sans conditions. The workers are also hoping that the State government will also withdraw the proposal to privatize.
The employees have not been paid their salaries for over two months and they and their families are heavily in debt. The government has claimed that it's not in a position to afford to pay salaries and has arrogantly blamed the workers of 'blackmailing' to destabilize the government.
