As per report the kerala police has registered a case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against three suspected Maoists who allegedly visited a tribal colony earlier this week. According to Mathrubhumi, the police stated that the three entered Chekkery tribal colony at Kolayad in Kannur. The cases were registered against a woman identified as Sundari who is allegedly a Maoist leader and two other men. The case was registered against the three after a resident of the colony filed a complaint with the police.
According to reports quoting officers, the complainant stated that five people had visited the colony carrying guns. They threatened the residents of the colony not to file a complaint with the police. They also snatched away the phones of the residents. The five people were allegedly speaking in Kannada.
According to the complaint, the gang of alleged Maoists had also prepared food in a house in the colony and left with rice and vegetables. The tribals stated that despite the presence of Maoists in the area being confirmed, the Thunderbolt force of the kerala police were yet to act and the police had also received information earlier that an alleged Maoist team led by Sundari was roaming through the forests of Wayanad. In october 2019, the Thunderbolt troops in kerala gunned down three alleged Maoists, including a woman, in the forests of Attapady in Palakkad.
