Reportedly the e-commerce giant's protest of $ 10 billion, 10-year contract allegations that Trump's stated efforts to "screw Amazon" led microsoft to opt for a "clear failures." In the meantime, amazon pointed to a series of alleged errors and an 11th hour policy change that the Department of Defense failed to follow.

As per the report "Basic Justice Requires Proposals of Revaluation and a New Award Decision," amazon wrote. "The stakes are high. The question is whether the President of the united states should be allowed to use the budget of DoD to pursue his own personal and political ends." Meanwhile, amazon founder jeff bezos also owns The Washington Post and the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI, contracted to microsoft on Oct. After more than 25 years of speculation that amazon was the only capable bidder. It also means to create a powerful, centralized computing system that will enable the military's adoption of artificial intelligence.

Moreover the e-commerce giant formally filed its protest in the U.S. court of Federal Claims on Nov. 8. Apparently amazon made clear in its filing that it wants the JEDI award to microsoft to be terminated and that the Pentagon "must reevaluate the proposals fairly and free of any direct or indirect improper influence." Further the filing cites direct intervention from trump in early August. Hence at the time, amazon alleged that trump directed new defense secretary Mark T. Esper "to conduct an 'independent' examination" of the cloud contract award, citing several news articles.
