A statement made by New delhi sources said Amid anti-CAA protests, internet, voice and messaging services by telecom service providers including airtel, vodafone idea and reliance jio were suspended in parts of Delhi-NCR following instructions from the police on Thursday.
In the meantime, the services and suspended locations of the walled city areas include the north and central districts, Mandi house, Seelampur, Jaffarbad, Mustafabad, Jamia nagar, shaheen Bagh and Bawana. Further, the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of police, Special Cell, New delhi in view of the prevailing law and order situation, it is hereby directed that all forms of communication ie voice, SMS and internet, be halted from 0900 hours to 1300 hours 19-12-2019 for the following areas covering cell IDs / BTS (base transceiver stations).
Some Voice Intenet and SMS services were shut down in some parts of delhi, according to a report by various groups against the citizenship amendment act and the National Register of Citizens on Thursday. Apparently mobile internet and SMS have been shut down in these areas like ACentral delhi area, Central district, Walled city area, Mandi house, Selampur, Zafarabad, Shaeenbagh, Jamia nagar, Mustafabad. Accordingly, Bharti airtel put out a twitter message: "As per instructions from government authorities, voice, internet and SMS services are currently suspended." All telcos have shut ther services in these areas.
