The solar eclipse is all set to happen on the twenty sixth of december, and people including scientists and common public are gearing up for witnessing the celestial phenomenon and many are taking precautionary measures as per scientific and religious practices.

There are numerous myths and superstitions about eclipses in india and according to the popular traditional culture in the country it has been advised by people that pregnant women and young children must stay indoors during a solar eclipse.

It has been widely believed by people that solar eclipses can affect the health of pregnant women and the foetuses they bear and it has been propagated that it'll have an effect on the  baby which might be born with physical deformity or cleft lip. But the fact is that all these are mere rumours and these aren't proved yet with scientific evidence. The moon is farther from the earth than the usual and once it will cross the sun, we can see a negative shadow that will look like a ring of fire. This is called an Annular Eclipse.
