Moreover, the police officer at the Karamadai police station said that the Mettupalayam was trying to overtake the motorbike, when the driver lost control of his vehicle and mowed the bike down. He said “We have registered an FIR under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding in a public way), 337 (Causing injury by act of endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (Causing death by negligence) of the IPC against Babu, The driver of the bus from Coimbatore. He has been treated and is receiving treatment at Mettupalayam government Hospital. We will arrest him once the hospital formalities are over ".
