Reportedly 2019 has been the best and safest year so far for the indian Railways as it claimed that zero passenger death was witnessed in the current financial year. Furthermore this milestone is the first time in the 166 year long history of railways. piyush goyal, the Railway minister, tweeted "Safety First: First time in 166 years, indian Railways had zero passenger deaths in the current financial year". The amazing achievement indeed needs huge applause for the Railway Minister.

Meanwhile on a plea seeking to maintain the highest safety and security measure standards across all railway stations in india, not so long ago on Dec 6, the delhi high court has sought a response from the Centre for the same.  Earlier in november, modern track structure consisting of Pre-stressed Concrete Sleeper (PSC), 60kg, 90 or higher Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) rails, fan-shaped layout turnout on PSC sleepers, steel channel sleepers on girder bridges is used in order to ensure safety.

Moreover the reconstruction of the Railway Board has alo been approved by Union Cabinet. Perhaps the Railway minister also directed to monitor drives and inspections at regular intervals besides educating the management for the observance of safe practices. Very soon, the modifying Railway Board will have one chairperson, four functional members and few independent members, unlike the current eight-member association.
