As per report it was stated that Renu Pall, an indian Ambassador to austria, has been recalled by the Ministry of External Affairs for financial irregularities and misuse of government funds as she rented an apartment for herself at Rs 15 lakh per month. Renu pall is an IFS officer of 1988 batch and she was about to complete her tenure in austria in Jan 2020.

 

Furthermore an investigation has been ordered by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and it was conducted by the Ministry of External Affairs. It is stated that 'Renu Pall incurred huge expenditure to the tune of crores of rupees on the government residence without the permission of the ministry'. Further it is stated that Renu has been fraudulently claiming the VAT refunds and misrepresenting facts in various permissions' granted by the government. The Chief Vigilance Officer has directed a team to visit Vienna in september and they have conducted the investigation.

 

Perhaps the investigation team confirmed the 'financial irregularities, misappropriation of funds and breach of conduct rules'. Soon after, the ministry transferred Renu Pall to headquarters on december 9 and also restrained her from exercising any administrative or financial powers of Ambassador. Currently just before one month prior to completing her normal tenure, Renu Pall is returning to india from Vienna on sunday to face charges of misuse of government money and financial irregularities.
