According to sources delhi court issued death warrants on january 7, to hang the Nirbhaya convicts on january 22 at 7 am. Meanwhile in the latest development, and the delhi government and jail authorities told delhi court that they cannot execute them on january 22, as the convicts filed a mercy plea. Furthermore the convicts cannot be hanged until further decision comes out on mercy plea, according to rules. Previously two of the convicts mukesh and Vinay filed a curative petition that was dismissed by the supreme Court.

 

Reportedly convict mukesh Kumar's petition challenging the death warrant was premature, and the jail authorities have to wait for the decision on mercy plea until which none of the four convicts can be executed on january 22.  Meanwhile tihar jail authorities were planning the meeting arrangements for the convicts mukesh Kumar, akshay kumar Singh, pawan Gupta, and Vinay Sharma before the mercy plea dilemma. Perhaps the convicts were also informed to mention a date when they want to meet the family members any date before january 20 and also the last meeting can be longer than the usual half an hour, in case they want to make a will.

 

Reportedly, the convicts earned wages from their work in their sentence, that will be given to the family members. akshay Singh earned Rs 69000, Sharma earned Rs 39000 and pawan Gupta earned Rs 29000 while Kumar had refused to work in the jail. Moreover the convicts grew violent and got punished in few instances in the last few days. Sharma had been punished 11 times and Gupta got punished eight times, mukesh for three times and akshay kumar Singh for once. They were kept in isolation and were not given any source of outside news and their diet too was controlled since Monday.
