As per report it was stated that the four convicts of the Nirbhaya case were to be hanged on january 22 but delayed due to the mercy petition by Mukesh. Meanwhile his petition has been rejected by the president of india and the new date to hang them is february 1, 6 am. Furthermore when the tihar jail authorities asked for their last wish, all of them were reportedly quiet. Further according to the jail rules, the authorities will ask the death row convicts if they have any last wish, like changing the will or meeting the family.

Perhaps officials at tihar jail believe that they have no last wish, while the convicts appear to be confident that their hanging date may get postponed again and there were other convicts who were hanged earlier in india and some of them did not have a last wish. Apparently Afzal Guru, the parliament attack convict did not ask anything for his last wish. He spent his last days reading books. However, he was offered tea, moments before he was hanged and when he asked for more, jail authorities could not arrange it as the man who serves tea already left. In a way, his last wish was not fulfilled.

Moreover bombay blasts convict Yakum Memon's last wish was to meet his daughter. The jail authorities did not allow him to meet her but arrange a phone call instead. Also Ajmal Kasab did not have a last wish but his last words were: "Allah Kasam, Aisi Galati Dobara Nahi hogi" (I swear by Allah, I will never commit such a mistake again) before he was hanged in Yerawada Central Jail in Pune. He was extremely scared and struggled during the last minutes.
