andhra pradesh government is very disappointed about the Union Budget tabled in the parliament the other day. It is disappointing that there was no mention of the long-pending demand of special category status for the state and other commitments made in the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

The state's share in central taxes was cut by Rs 1,521.30 crore in 2018-19, which was a huge setback. Also, there is no clarity with regard to the help of the state to bridge the revenue deficit. The package for seven backward districts and industrial incentives have got no mention in the budget.

Even the amount of Rs 24,350 crore assured for backward area development funds for seven districts was not taken into consideration. Furthermore, there are no allocations to polavaram project which will make the project execution further difficult. What is more disappointing is that there is no mention of funds for the infrastructural development of the south Coastal Railway Zone which was announced earlier this year with vishakapatnam as the headquarter. If the executive capital is shifted to vishakapatnam as planned by the State Government. people of the capital region and other parts of the State need more trains for Visakhapatnam. A special railway zone would come handy in that aspect.
