A few days ago, telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao announced that he would oppose the citizenship amendment act (CAA) and even said he would organize a meeting of all the Chief Ministers who are opposing the act. He went on to say that trs is a Secular party and would not allow any act on religion lines.
As the first step to that, telangana State assembly will pass a resolution against the citizenship amendment act (CAA). This was announced late sunday night after the state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. Previously, kerala, punjab, rajasthan, and West bengal Governments passed similar resolutions in their Assemblies against the CAA.
The resolution will be passed in the budget session of the assembly, likely to be held in the first week of March. The cabinet also appealed to the Union government, not to discriminate against indian citizenship according to the religions. It is already known to our readers that telangana rashtra samithi (TRS) had voted against Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament. On the other side, PM modi, the other day, announced that there is no going back on CAA.
