As if the 2000 Crore Income Tax Scandal is not enough for tdp to struggle, one more scam got surfaced now and it involves senior tdp leader and former minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu. The Vigilance and Enforcement department has unearthed a multi-crore procurement scandal in Employees State Insurance Corporation during Chandrababu's tenure.
It was found that the Directors of Insurance Medical services (IMS) had placed purchase orders for procurement of drugs, medical equipment, surgical items, lab kits and furniture worth Rs 975.79 crore by violating procedures and guidelines. The government claims that it has evidence of the involvement of the then minister, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu.
The purchases were made without constituting the drug procurement committee and without calling for open tenders, causing huge losses to the government exchequer. Kinjarapu Atchannaidu is one of the strong voices of tdp and the party could not afford to lose him. The Kinjarapu family further has one more mla (Adireddy Bhavani) and one mp (Kinjarapu ram mohan Naidu). If Atchannaidu is in trouble in this scam, the party will also be in trouble. It has to be seen what Chandrababu does to save his loyalist!
