Sources from New delhi stated that prime minister narendra modi, on monday, gifted a marble statue of mahatma Gandhi's iconic "Three Wise Monkeys," as a memento to US President donald trump at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. trump and First Lady Melania trump, who reached ahmedabad at 11.37 am earlier today for the first leg of their india visit, visited the ashram which was home to mahatma gandhi for more than a decade.
He was accompanied by PM modi, the US president and his wife walked around the ashram before resuming their 22-kilometre roadshow from the airport to the Motera stadium billed as the world’s biggest cricket stadium. The US President and his wife also tried their hands at spinning the 'charkha' (spinning wheel) near 'Hriday Kunj', a cottage inside the ashram where gandhi ji and his wife Kasturba once lived.
Moreover as per report the two were briefed about gandhi ji and the importance of charkha as a symbol of self-reliance. Before leaving, trump penned his thoughts in Ashram visitors' book and wrote as to my great friend prime minister narendra modi, thank you for this wonderful visit.
