Reportedly she is former Union minister from 2004 to 2014 in manmohan Singh's cabinet. Four time mp, she was a senior leader in Congress. Even post bifurcation crisis, she had contested on congress ticket in 2014, but she suffered big set back. She is none other than Panabaka lakshmi who served as Union minister of State for health and Family Welfare (2004-2009) and Union minister of State for Textile (2009-2014).
Furthermore her political career is now in doldrums. After the death of then sitting mp of tdp naramalli sivaprasad, Panabaka lakshmi along with her husband Panabaka Krishnaiah had joined tdp in 2019 ahead of general elections and contested for chittoor lok sabha constituency on tdp ticket. She had lost to YCP's Reddappa. Panabaka lakshmi is almost non visible in public life.
Currently reports are emerging that Panabaka lakshmi along with husband Panabaka Krishnaiah are making efforts to join Jagan's party. However, Panabaka couple is aspiring some nomination post or strong assurance from Jagan. Panabaka is a strong sc leader and also a woman. These factors may favour her entry into ycp which has good base among sc voters. Accordingly cm jagan may not give any strong assurance to Panabaka couple. Since jagan wants to dissolve the Legislative Council, there's no chance for the couple. Though rajya sabha elections are due and ycp would win 4 out of 4 seats due to its thumping majority, it is almost difficult to accommodate one among the couple into Rajya Sabha. All these said to have made Panabaka couple in waiting list.
