Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has indicated that nothing can stop Telangana formation now and the process is irreversible. The home minister's statement came a day after Andhra Pradesh assembly rejected the Telangana Bill by voice vote. This proved to be an embarrassment to the Congress, which favored creation of the separate state. Experts are of the opinion that whatever the assembly did, Parliament can go ahead with its legislative process for creation of the new state. The GoM, set up to look into the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, is likely to meet on February 4 to articulate the government's view for recommending to President Pranab Mukherjee the next course of action. At the same time since the role of AP Assembly is now over, sources say Congress high command is mulling imposition of President's rule in the state. It will serve two goals; one is to cut CM Kiran to size whereas the next one is to see that Assembly polls are postponed till six months so that it can be held in new states!
