Reportedly as Corona pandemic looms large and the world is on the verge of shut, state after the state in india is imposing restrictions in order to control the pandemic. However, ap cm YS Jaganmohan reddy begs to differ. He has demanded that the Civic Body Polls should be held in the state as per previous schedule and demanded the state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar that the elections should be completed within 10 days. He called SEC's decision to postpone elections by 6 weeks as "unilateral", "biased". Transport and I&PR minister perni nani accused that the postponement of local body polls is a big conspiracy.
cm jagan claimed that one need not be panic about the spread of corona virus. He went onto level serious allegations on State election Commissioner Ramesh Kumar by dragging his caste. He alleged that SEC is acting as per the whims and fancies of some (Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu).
If elections to be held, then rallies, door-to-door campaign, public meetings should be allowed as per the due process of election as the candidates have due right to promote and campaign their candidature in the municipal, MPTC, ZPTC and panchayat elections. If this is the case, there is huge scope for the spread of Corona pandemic. Considering all these special and sensitive conditions, the SEC has decided to defer the elections.
