As per report tamilnadu will soon begin rapid testing for COVID-19 in the state which will provide results in 30 minutes. According to reports, the state government has placed orders to purchase around one lakh rapid test kits from china, which is expected to be delivered by april 9. Speaking to reporters at the secretariat on monday, tamilnadu chief minister edappadi k palaniswami said that as soon as the kits arrive in the state, it will be distributed to the districts and used for rapid testing. Adding that these test kits will provide quicker results and thereby help more people to get tested, he said that the state government has received Rs 500 crore as financial assistance from the Centre.

 

He was speaking to the media after a video-conference with the district collectors of the state. Emphasising that isolation is the only way to reduce the impact of coronavirus in the state, the chief minister said that tamilnadu has 3371 ventilators ready to be used for those in critical condition due to COVID-19. He also added that an order to procure 2500 more ventilators for state hospitals has been placed along with orders for masks and other personal protective equipment.

 

tamilnadu has testing facilities in 17 locations so far and is awaiting approval from the Centre for 21 more testing centres across the state.A total of 621 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in tamilnadu as on monday evening. Six persons have died so far due to coronavirus and 13 patients have recovered from the disease. Appealing people to be kind and not stigmatise those with the infection, tamilnadu health Secretary Dr Beela Rajesh said that nobody wishes to contract the virus and the focus now must be on treatment and recovery.
