Reportedly the health ministry on monday said that 76 per cent of the coronavirus patients in india are men, while, 24 per cent of those are women.During the routine briefing on Covid-19, health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal also said that 47 per cent of the Covid-19 cases are in people who fall under the age of 40, while, 34 per cent of the Covid-19 patients in india fall in the age group of 40 to 60, and 19 per cent of the patients are 60 years of age and above. Agarwal also said that while coronavirus is a bigger threat for the elderly, young people with co-morbidities also need to be protected.

 

The health ministry also said that 73 per cent of the Covid-19 deaths have been reported in men, while 27 per cent of those have been in women. On the age distribution in mortality, joint secretary Lav Agarwal said that 63 per cent of the deaths have been reported in people who are 60 years and above, 30 per cent of the deaths have been reported in people between 40 to 60 years age, and, seven per cent deaths have been reported in people below 40 years of age.

 

As many as 693 new positive Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours taking the total number of coronavirus infections in the country to 4067, the health ministry said. The union government on saturday confirmed that most cases of coronavirus in india have been found in the age groups of 21-40. When holding a press conference on the Covid-19 situation in india, the health ministry said that an age-wise analysis of coronavirus patients in india shows that 42 per cent of them belong to the age group of 21-40. The next most-hit age group is those between ages 41 and 50, which compromises of 33 per cent of the Covid-19 positive cases in the country.
