Reportedly eight PG doctors and one nurse are among those who were discharged after recovering from COVID-19 in tamilnadu on Saturday. Of these, six doctors have consented to donate plasma for COVID-19 treatment and the nurse has also expressed her willingness to do the same. Briefing the press through video conferencing, tamil Nadu health minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said that 66 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state on Saturday. The total number of cases in tamil Nadu stands at 1,821 while the number of active cases is 835.

 

94 patients have been discharged from hospitals on saturday thus taking the total number of recovered patients to 960. Speaking to the media, Vijayabaskar said that the stricter lockdown in five municipal corporation limits was announced based on the recommendations of medical experts, who said that there is a chance of breaking the chain of spread in these areas if the lockdown is made stricter. A total of 1,503 patients in tamil Nadu are aged between 13 and 60 while 214 patients are aged above 60 years. 104 COVID-19 patients in tamil Nadu belong to the age category of 0-12 years.

 

The state government has tested 7,707 samples belonging to 7,131 persons on Saturday. tamil Nadu has also received approval from the indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for seven more labs to test COVID-19 samples. Of the 66 new cases, chennai reported 43 cases and Kancheepuram district reported seven new cases. Out of the 94 patients who were discharged on recovery, six PG doctors and one nurse were undergoing treatment at the Rajiv gandhi government General Hospital (RGGGH), chennai, and two PG doctors were taking treatment in Coimbatore. 22 patients were discharged in Karur on saturday and 17 in Vellore.
