According to sources, the tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association has strongly condemned the plans to release Jyotika’s Pon Magal Vandhal directly on wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital streaming platform amazon Prime. Meanwhile, the movie, directed by JJ Fredrick, was supposed to hit the screens on march 27 but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Meanwhile, several reports suggested that 2D Entertainment, the producers of the film, are planning for a direct >digital release in May due to the uncertainty around the reopening of theatres. Reports also stated that the rights pertaining to Pon Magal Vandhal have already been sold to the streaming platform amazon Prime for Rs 9 crore.

 

Now, THE Multiplex Association of india (MAI) has requested the Producers and actors to hold their releases and support theaters by releasing the movies once it gets reopened again. india is currently under the lockdown with around 1.3 billion people asked to stay home in view of the coronavirus outbreak. Recently, there has been an announcement that akshay kumar and kiara advani starrer 'Laxmmi Bomb' will have a direct-to-digital release. This has been requested to put on hold and they have issued a press statement.
