Accordingly a government notification said Indian Railways is planning to gradually resume passenger train operations from june 1st onwards.Passenger train service will begin with 15 pairs of special trains. These trains will run as special trains from New delhi Station to major stations across the country. These special trains will be run from New delhi Station to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, bilaspur, ranchi, bhubaneswar, secunderabad, bengaluru, chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, mumbai Central, ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
Passenger train service will expand from the existing 15 trains to more than 200 starting next month. The service will involve non-air conditioned trains, which had not been allowed so far.
The decision comes days after the Centre extended the countrywide lockdown for the third time but lifted the bar on bus service and other public transport. The ticket booking status will be issued soon on the irctc website.
