New delhi sources stated that in the last week of fourth phase of nationwide lockdown, india on wednesday crossed 1.5 lakh mark of total Covid19 cases so far. With nearly 6,387 new cases, the country's tally reached 1,65,767, health said in the morning update. There were also 170 new deaths in the past 24 hours pushing the death toll to 4,337. Of the total cases so far, 83,004 are active, while 64,425 people have been cured and discharged from the hospitals including one who migrated.

 

Meanwhile according to the Union health Ministry, india is also witnessing a strong recovery rate of 42.44 per cent as at least 3,935 people were also cured in last 24 hours. maharashtra continues to have the biggest share of COVID-19 cases in india with at least 59,546 confirmed cases and 1,792 virus related fatalities so far, health ministry said. 36.08 per cent of the total cases across the country are in Maharashtra. tamilnadu is in second place and Country's capital delhi is in third place with 1982 deaths.

 

It took just four days for the country to reach the over 1.5 lakh figure from 1,25,101 on May 23. With this india continues to remain the top ten list of worst hit countries by the pandemic globally. Globally the cases of COVID-19 topped at 5.6 million and over three lakh fatalities.
