Among the 299, 262 are from outside the state. This took the state's tally to 3221. tamil Nadu which is facing an alarming increase reported 1149 which is the highest spike ever. chennai city alone faced 809 cases and that is the highest ever increase for a single day. West bengal also joined tamil Nadu, karnataka, and delhi by announcing a single-day record of cases. West bengal had 371 new cases.
Despite India’s surging numbers, it can take solace from the fact that it is still far behind the united states which leads the table with 1,818,983 cases. The US death toll is 101,567 but its casualties have fallen from a high of 5,475. brazil is still in the second spot with 501,985 cases while russia is third with 405,843 cases. UK, spain, and italy are three other countries worse off than India. Yesterday alone, indian recorded 8380 positive cases which is the highest single-day spike.
