Reportedly private carrier AirAsia has announced that it will offer 50,000 free seats on domestic flights to doctors across the nation to honour their contribution in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The scheme, termed as AirAsia RedPass initiative, means that the doctors will not be charged for the seat's base fare. However, airport fees, charges and statutory taxes will be borne by the passenger.

 

As per the statement put out by the airlines, the RedPass initiative is a gesture for the doctor community who are doing a commendable job at the time of the Covid-19 crisis. “As part of this initiative to pay a tribute to doctors, AirAsia india will give away 50,000 free seats on flights across its domestic sectors to doctors as a gesture of gratitude for their commendable efforts in support of the nation," the statement said. Doctors, who want to avail the offer, will have to submit their contact details and desired sector and date of travel with their registration number or ID as proof on the air Asia website. The scheme is valid on a single one-way journey between July 1 and september 30 for the successful applicant doctors on the AirAsia india domestic network.The applications are open till june 12.

 

"As a mark of respect to our doctors and in recognition of the admirable values they have displayed through the last few months - grit, determination and strength, we at AirAsia india wanted to express our gratitude for their tireless efforts in keeping the nation safe and healthy," Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, AirAsia india said.
