Khairatabad Ganesh which is famous in both the telugu States will not be the same this year due to the coronavirus Pandemic. Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee has scrapped the plans of the Traditional Giant Ganesh Statue plan. The committee was supposed to have a 66-feet statue this year. Not to disrupt the tradition, the committee is thinking on an alternate plan.
The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee has decided to build a 27-foot height Ganesh idol this year. Committee will soon approach the hyderabad police seeking permission to build this idol at the pandal. The Committee is also examining a proposal of online darshan for the devotees.
This is the first time the idol will be made of clay. Previously, the statue is made of Plaster of Paris. Also, there will be no immersion procession and the idol will be immersed at the same place by pouring water. This year the Lord will appear as 'Dhanvanthri Ganesh' who is expected to save the World from this Pandemic. All these are proposals awaiting the approval of the Police. This year Vinayaka Chaviti will happen on august 22nd.
