Reportedly the Confederation of All india Traders (CAIT), the apex body of approximately seven crore traders in india, has announced that it will not use Zoom video conferencing application as part of its broader boycott of Chinese goods. It has also called for the adoption of JioMeet video conferencing application, which it said is an indian alternative to Zoom. CAIT is asking traders and trade associations across the country not to use Zoom as their communication platform any further.

Meanwhile the step has been taken after several suggestions came from traders across country and an in-depth study of the research team of CAIT, which recommended that usage of Zoom as a communication platform can be against the interests of the country. CAIT National President bc Bhartia and Secretary General praveen Khandelwal said “Our decision merits a cryptic explanation just so that all others in the country take note and consider the same Zoom is owned by one Sh Eric Chuan, and has shown admitted vulnerability to wilt under pressure from authorities in mainland China.”

Earlier CAIT began greater usage of Zoom from march 25, 2020 the beginning of lockdown period and made it as its communication platform with about 200 prominent trade leaders of all states and also held several town halls with about 1,000 traders on multiple occasions. Under its mission statement ‘Bhartiya Saamaan-Hamara Abhiman’, CAIT has now decided to adopt JioMeet as it is an indian technology.
