Once again, a capital has been imposed on the people of Rayalaseema after losing Kurnool to Hyderabad and now to Vijayawada. There is widespread discontent among the people and now there is one more practical reality.
Not a single district headquarters in Seema enjoy good road links with Vijayawada. Especially there is no link from Kurnool, Ananthapur or even nearby Kadapa. Chittoor is better with a road through Nellore and Tirupathi to Vijayawada.
In fact to reach the new capital, people from Ananthapur should cross several rural and interior mandals of Seema on single roads. At the same time, they enjoy very good access and road connectivity to Bangalore with Kadapa lagging behind slightly.
Given their emotional links with Bangalore and the ideological apathy towards Andhra’s big caste leaders, it has to be seen whether they can connect with Vijayawada as much as Bangalore. Maybe Chandrababu Naidu should come up with some measures to ensure the Seema people are at peace.
