The concept of Foot over Bridges (FOB) is popular across the globe but FOBs with lifts is new concept in India. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has come up with new idea of constructing as many as 50 FOBs with lifts in various party of the city. GHMC Commissioner is seriously in thought of avoiding Traffic problems in the city.
Somesh Kumar said that the proposed project would come into realty within 6 months. A private consulting agency is in preparation of detailed report for the executive of the project and it also prepare various designs of FOBs. The main objective of the FOBs is to prevent road accidents and inconvenience to pedestrians. As per Municipal Commissioner, FOBs not only provide livelihood it could also generate income to the corporation.
To construct each FOB it would cost around 50 laks to 1 crore. GHMC has identified some key areas where the requirement of FOBs is need to construct. Jubliee Hills Check Post, Banjara Hills Road No.2, and Road No.1, Jubliee Hills Road No. 45, Paradise Junction, KPHB Bus Stop, Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Miyapur and Wipro Circle.
