Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) is the second leading engineering and infrastructure company in AP and 49th in India. MEIL gets irrigation contracts in Gujarat and Karnataka as well. MEIL is executed 60% to 70% of the contracts in irrigation and water management in AP. MEIL is maintaining political relations with all major parties in the state that helps to get regular irrigation contracts for the company.
The company was received many irrigation projects at YSR time. At the same time there were many allegations on the company fails to complete the task within quoted period. MEIL got the contract on EPC basis to provide drinking Water from Krishna River to Piduguralla town in 2009. The company has to complete within 15 months. But even after 5 years the purpose of the project has not completed.
There are many leakages in pipelines that constructed in Krishna River. Now the same engineering company gets another prestigious irrigation contract “Pattiseema”. Chief Minister CBN took this Pattiseema with high priority and plan to complete the project within a year. L&T is quoted for 29% where as MEIL for 21.9% for Pattiseema. Estimated cost of this project is around 1300 crores. There are many doubts on quality of this project now.
